Is Wii Fit a Digital Bathroom Scale?

Yesterday in an interview, David Gosen, former CEO of Nintendo of Europe called Wii Fit a digital bathroom scale. According to Gosen, 60 percent of all consumers who purchased a Wii Fit, played it once and didn’t play it again.
It’s interesting to see the former Nintendo executive who use to frequently say “This year is a good year to buy a [insert Nintendo product]” turn a complete 360. Gosen is now VP for Microsoft’s Xbox and claims that Wii Fit is too “gimmicky” - meaning consumers will get bored with it very quickly. Read more
Wii Fit Family Challenge
August 4, 2008 by Jason · Leave a Comment
I discovered this week that Nickelodeon and Nintendo are sponsoring a contest for families with the most Wii Fit spirit to compete for the title of “Wii Fit Fittest Family.” Sounds interesting doesn’t it? In order to become one of the 3 semi-finalists all contestants must submit a 2 minute video that describes why your family should be selected to compete in the Wii Fit Family Challenge. Judges will weigh all entries based on the following:
- Was the video on yopic (30%)
- Creativity (20%)
- Degree to which the candidate embraces the spirit of the Nickelodeon Brand (20%)
- Degree to which the candidate embraces the spirit of the Wii Fit Brand (30%)
If you are chosen as semi-finalist your family will receive:
- A Wii console (Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $249.99)
- A copy of Wii Fit for the Wii console (ARV: $89.99)
- Round-trip coach airfare for Semi-Finalist family (a maximum of five family members) to Orlando, Florida (ARV: $1,500.00)
- Four (4) nights/five (5) days stay at Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holiday Inn in Orlando, Florida (ARV: $1,200.00) and
- $1,000.00 in spending money for each semi-finalist family.

Your Kids are Fat - Shut Up and Stop Complaining About It!

So you finally got your hands on Nintendo’s Wii Fit and can’t wait for your family to start exercising together? Great, so the first thing you do is have everyone weigh in, but wait one second. The Wii Fit just told you that your kids are overweight! You didn’t pay Nintendo close to $100 to tell you that your kids are fat right?
Wii Fit Girl: Get Her Autograph and a Wii Fit
July 28, 2008 by Jason · Leave a Comment
If you have been hiding under a rock the past few months you might not have seen the Wii Fit Girl on YouTube. Her debut video features her in nothing but her panties doing the hula hoop! It turns out that the video was a marketing gimmick. Regardless, it generated over 2 millions views in a relatively short time frame. I noticed today on Ebay that you can get a Wii Fit signed by the Wii Fit Girl. The seller happened to recognize her in an EB Games in Miami and was able to score an autograph. I’m very interested in what the final selling price will be.
WiiWeightWatcher is LAME!
July 11, 2008 by Jason · Leave a Comment

Today I stumbled across WiiWeightWatcher.com and thought I would find out what the site is all about. According to their home page,
WiiWeightWatcher easily allows users to keep track of their own weight loss while on a Wii Fit exercise regime.
WiiWeightWatcher Track Your Wii Fit Progress.
The first thought that came to mind was “What’s the point?” I don’t understand why someone would spend the time to make a web site that does what Wii Fit will already do for you? So I said to my self, “what the heck, I’ll give it a try.” So I registered for the site to see what I was missing. First off, the site was very cumbersome to use but more importantly it doesn’t provide any additional functionality that’s not already available in Wii Fit.
In short, this site is LAME! It appears that it is a blatant attempt to make money through advertising. I highly recommend you don’t waste your time with this site.

Today I opened up the boxing game which turned out to be a lot of fun. I hoped it would be a little faster but I had a chance for that at the end. This is a great aerobic exercise and you need that if you intend to lose any weight. I am going make this exercise part of my daily routing. 170 pounds here I come!
[Wii-Records] Best Scores - Wii Fit
July 9, 2008 by Jason · Leave a Comment
I recently stumbled across this site that I thought was pretty cool. Wii-Records stores the top scores for all Wii games including Wii Fit. The way the site works is simple. After you register for a free account, you simply pick the game and category you wish to post scores for, and then upload a screen shot of the game with your score. It’s that easy. The folks at Wii-Records will then review your screen shot and approve your score as long as it’s valid. I am real interest if any of you are using Wii-Records already?

Hula Hoop Fool

I have been out of town for the past week or so and unfortunately I got off my regular Wii Fit routine. To start this week off my wife thought it would be funny for me to post a video of me doing the hula hoop. I look completely ridiculous and hope you get a few chuckles out of it. I will post some stats later as I get back into my routine.
